To Be? Or Just…To Be?

Forget the “or not to be” part of this question. Here’s why: As I rattled off to my wellness coach just a few of the things that happened the past few weeks that added uninvited stress and depleted my inner peace and joy, she asked me if I can practice the practice of simply BEING this weekend. Without the need to add or adjust the reality of all that is around me, right here, right now…can I JUST be? Can any of us?

Hmmm, really truly…can we ever JUST BE? I needed a reminder that yes, I absolutely can. It sounds soul-nourishing and heart-lifting to just stay home i my peaceful, crystal-filled space, meditate, hug my dogs, sit on the patio and read, write, listen to music and eat all the healthy fruits and veggies delivered from a local farm to my door. It feels delightful deep in my core to give myself permission to not drive anywhere for a few days — especially when it’s a weekend notorious for noisy parades, traffic and fireworks. Embracing the assignment to just BE feels like a prescription for peace, despite the chaos in the outside world.

It’s funny how little time we actually give ourselves for this practice-turned-lifestyle that many of us strive for. We know that living in the past doesn’t change the outcome, so staying present translates to a more peaceful relationship with life and all that it’s showed us (so far). We also know that worrying about the future doesn’t alter the outcome in a positive way, so no need to do that. Yet, sometimes, when challenged to just BE where we are it’s just that…a challenge. It’s tempting to want to grab my keys and go find the next adventure, but a few months of non-stop adventures in a new hometown have led me to feel drawn to this challenge. Not to be anywhere but here.

Wishing you all a peaceful, soul-nourishing weekend of BEING exactly where and what you need to BE. Nothing more, nothing less. Just BE you…xo SS
